Mission Team

Final Update ~ Friday, January 22

It is Friday afternoon and the team has finished its last day of work. After a pizza lunch back at Camp Restore, we had our final Bible study and closing meeting. The Lord truly blessed this team with a great week of opportunities. Here are the quantifiable things that were accomplished by the team:

  • The team included 61 people and 13 churches
  • We worked on 13 various projects for a total of 1,800 man hours
  • Tore down a house and hauled away 1,890 cubic feet of debris
  • Tore out 2,400 sf of drywall
  • Replaced 600 feet of rotted roof decking
  • Intalled 600 feet roofing shingles
  • Textured, primed and painted 3,300 sf of walls, ceilings
  • Installed 2 sets of kitchen cabinets
  • Installed 12 interior doors, 3 exterior doors and 12 lock sets
  • Installed 2 windows
  • Installed one attic stair
  • Planted 2,200 tree seedlings
  • Insulated 5,200 sf ceilings and walls
  • Hung 7,500 sf of drywall
  • Taped 3,600 sf of drywall
  • Replaced and painted 700 sf of the church entryway
  • Installed recessed lighting in the church entryway
  • Installed three load bearing beams
  • Installed 1,400 linear feet of moldings
  • Installed rods and shelving in 11 closets
  • Installed 1,600 of floor tile
  • Played 387 games of pool with local teens at the after-school center
  • Reached out to more than 250 New Orleans residents in many ways including prayer walks, visits at the teen center, visits to the nursing homes, etc.

But not everything that occurred on our trip can be quantified. We pray that everyone we encountered saw the light of Jesus shining through us.

We truly enjoyed our fellowship as brothers and sisters in Christ and pray that God continues to watch over the people of New Orleans. Thanks to everyone back home for your prayers and support on our behalf. While we've enjoyed our time in New Orleans, there is no feeling like returning home to our loved ones. Please pray that the team may have safe travels on Saturday. To God be the Glory!!
